Gold Candle unlocks exploration efficiency with Micromine Nexus

Gold Candle Ltd, a Canada-based exploration company, has significantly accelerated its decision making, improved team collaboration and brought new levels of efficiency to its geological workflows using Micromine solutions, the solutions provider says.

Working across a complex legacy site, the company achieved smoother daily operations, better data accessibility and more consistent stakeholder engagement – empowering its teams to move faster and more confidently at every stage of the exploration lifecycle, Micromine says.

These improvements were made possible through the integration of Micromine Origin, the company’s geological modelling and estimation software, with Micromine Nexus’ cloud-based data management and collaboration tools. While Micromine Origin enabled Gold Candle to build and manage detailed geological models, Micromine Nexus provided a shared digital workspace – allowing seamless data sharing, version control and real-time stakeholder engagement across the entire exploration team, it says.

Gold Candle has identified 3.3 Moz of indicated and 2.3 Moz of inferred gold resources at the Kerr-Addison mine in northeastern Ontario, about 650 km away from Toronto, Canada. This mine, part of the Abitibi gold belt, historically produced 11 Moz of gold at an average grade of 9 g/t. It benefits from excellent infrastructure, including major highways, rail and air access, and is surrounded by other mining centres and operating gold mines, Gold Candle says.

“Micromine Nexus enabled efficient sharing of drill hole progress updates among team members across the country, ensuring timely and informed decision making,” Andrey Zagoskin, Exploration Manager, Gold Candle, said.

Kiril Alampieski, Product Strategy Manager – Platform, Micromine, added: “We’re pleased to see how Gold Candle is using Micromine Origin and Micromine Nexus to bridge the gap between historical mining challenges and modern exploration demands. Their story is a powerful example of how cloud-connected solutions can drive smarter, faster decisions in even the most complex geological settings.”

Through this integration, Gold Candle streamlined four critical operational areas:

  • Real-time drill hole tracking: Improved drilling accuracy and coordination by instantly sharing daily updates from multiple rigs;
  • 3D reconstruction of historical stopes: Enabled collaborative, version-controlled modelling of 8,000-plus legacy documents for more accurate underground visuals;
  • Standardisation of geological outputs: Delivered consistent, high-quality maps and reports using shared templates stored and accessed via Micromine Nexus; and
  • Improved stakeholder communication: Streamlined access to 3D models for non-technical users via the browser-based Micromine Nexus Viewer functionality, speeding up reviews.

“With Micromine Nexus, updates are now available with the click of a button, providing stakeholders with instant access to the latest project information,” Zagoskin added.

By embracing Micromine’s integrated solutions, Gold Candle has strengthened its decision-making, increased operational agility, and positioned itself for continued success in the Abitibi gold belt.
