New Delhi: In a major move to increase transparency and strengthen stakeholder communication, Union Minister for Coal and Mines Gangapuram Kishan Reddy, popularly known as GKR, has launched a new monthly publication titled “My Newsletter.” The initiative is a fresh stride toward bridging the gap between government policy and public understanding.
The beta edition of the newsletter was launched in March 2025, reflecting the Minister’s commitment to participative governance and public accountability. GKR, who also serves as the elected Member of Parliament from Secunderabad, Telangana, has long been admired for his people-first approach, often spending time directly engaging with citizens, especially in his constituency.
Whether he is in the corridors of power in New Delhi or among mining communities in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, or Jharkhand, GKR is known for his direct involvement with bureaucrats, PSU executives, union leaders, mine workers, and project-affected families. His leadership style—grounded in accessibility and empathy—has been instrumental in breathing new life into the PSUs operating under the Ministry of Coal and Mines.
What “My Newsletter” Aims to Do
According to GKR, the newsletter is more than a report—it’s a platform.
This is a channel to inform, engage, and involve every stakeholder—from coal miners to policy planners—in shaping the future of the sector, he said.
The publication is designed to update the public on key milestones, policies, events, and local developments, while also providing a mechanism for stakeholder feedback.
Highlights from the Inaugural March Edition Include:
- Historic Achievement: India hits 1 billion tonnes in coal production and dispatch.
- Policy Breakthrough: Launch of the nation’s first Exploration License auction, setting a new benchmark in mining reforms.
- Community Engagement: Coverage on women’s empowerment in mining, progress in critical minerals, and high-level policy engagements.
- Constituency Updates: Reports on major development projects underway in Secunderabad, reaffirming GKR’s commitment to local growth alongside national duty.
The newsletter, which is currently available in digital format, is expected to be a recurring monthly feature. The Ministry has invited feedback and suggestions from readers to make future editions more inclusive and interactive.
A Leader Who Leads by Example
GKR’s efforts are seen by many as reflective of a new-age governance model that emphasizes transparency, accountability, and proactive outreach. As someone who doesn’t hesitate to step out of his office and into the field, his hands-on approach continues to earn him respect across the political spectrum and among the communities he serves.
The “My Newsletter” initiative is yet another testament to Reddy’s philosophy that governance should not only be seen—it should be felt and experienced by the people.
