I thought NIO had a good sales month and quarter, but boy, oh, boy — XPENG tore it up! The Chinese smart EV company scored 33,205 deliveries in March 2025, 268% more than in March 2024.
But, wait, you said 331% growth. Indeed. Looking at the quarter as a whole, XPENG logged 94,008 deliveries, 331% more than in the 1st quarter of 2024.
One other highlight, which the chart directly below shows and XPENG itself notes, is that this is the fifth month in a row where XPENG delivered more than 30,000 vehicles to customers — even achieving that result through the always-tough Chinese New Year period.
Here are both monthly and quarterly charts on XPENG’s sales trends, first in static form and then in an interactive form that is much easier to explore and play with on a full computer (laptop or desktop) rather than a phone:
Here are a few more highlights of the month from XPENG: “On March 13, 2025, at its Spring 2025 Launch conference, XPENG launched 2025 versions of the XPENG G6 and XPENG G9. Both upgraded versions come standard with 5C AI batteries and Turing AI-powered smart driving features across all trims.
“In March 2025, XNGP’s monthly active user penetration rate in urban driving reached 86%. At the same time, XPENG expanded its global presence by entering the Indonesian market.”
With entry into more and more markets, like Indonesia, I expect we’ll see XPENG’s sales continue to grow in the months, quarters, and years ahead. Though, that XNGP user penetration rate could be one of the most interesting and exciting highlights — 86% is very high.
To end, as in the NIO sales article, I’ll end with charts comparing the two companies’ long-term monthly and quarterly deliveries (first static charts, then interactive charts):
